TOENAIL FUNGUS
COMMON PROBLEMS
TOENAIL FUNGUS
Onychomycosis, or toenail fungus, is a contagious fungal infection. It often causes thickening of the nails, along with a yellow, white or brown discoloration. An extremely affected nail may also become frail and detach itself from the nail bed. Sometimes, toenail fungus can produce an unpleasant odour. Although numerous risk factors and causes have been established, toenail fungus is rarely harmful to your health. It is generally treated for its unaesthetic or painful attributes.
THE SOLUTIONS
WHAT CAN I
DO ABOUT IT?
There are numerous treatments. Topical antifungal medications, fungus-attacking agents, include special nail polishes, solutions or creams applied to the nails over a prolonged period of time. Oral antifungal medications are another option. However, while generally more effective than the first group of treatments, oral medications do come with a host of side effects.
